Excellent attorneys don’t routinely tell their divorce clients, “You can’t talk with your spouse; it could hurt you legally.” They know that parents must eventually return to being “Mom” and “Dad,” not “petitioner” and “respondent.” And they know that children can only be raised by a family, never by a lawsuit.

Unless there remains a compelling reason (such as a threat of domestic violence), these family attorneys are not going to discourage parents from restoring communication and solving problems together.
